I would like the ability to add a secondary sort attribute of "Priority", so that if several items are due on a given date, they system also then sorts by priority. Maybe this can be achieved via Karylle Abella's labelling suggestion on 23 May.

Either customizable groupings or have a wider variety of preset timing groups (e.g "this week" or "tomorrow" instead of "Upcoming"), and have the date flows automatically update without refreshing

This is a great idea! I think being able to categorize action items to specific projects would be amazing. The addition of colour-coding would just be the cherry on top.
